This spring I'm doing 6 speakers with an amp in the tourpak, to power them all. (103 Limited Ultra.) Anybody know if I still need this Boom amp & "system reflash" if I put in this bass booster, since I'll have an amp already? What is that reflash anyway? Thanks.
I'm confused. The HD amp mounts "under" not "in" the tour pak; so I conclude you aren't using the HD amp which means the reflash is irrelevant for your application.
OK, now I get it. I'm getting 6 speakers --- fairing, lowers, rear pods --- all JL, with a JL amp in the tourpak. Think these bass boosters'll work with that setup?
I'm not a tech or audio professional. As part of my recent audio project (second RF 300x4 amp, saddlebag speaker lids, and tour pak speaker pods with 6.5" speakers), I did install the HD Bass Port kit. It's relatively inexpensive, and I've read and heard from others that the Bass Ports do help. Personally, I doubt that the ports are a "WOW" level enhancement (and my "ear" isn't audiophile sensitive), but the pods are a pretty poor acoustical environment and benefit from the ports.
I just had this flash done. The flash is supposed to make the radio recognize the bass ports and adjust the bass output accordingly. I have a Hogtunes Big Ultra setup. I also put the bass ports in my tourpack. To be honest I really didn't get the response like I wanted. I was thinking I would get punch to the bass. Wishful thinking. You can feel the extra bass to the touch of the tourpak, but it doesn't translate into volume/sound. I was told by the Harley tech at a show this past weekend that it doesn't matter that I have the Hogtunes setup. It should work. Maybe with more power I'll get the punch I'm looking for.
