Bone stock 2011 RKC with a 103--I prefer back roads riding, so alot of my miles are between 45 mph and 65 mph. I haven't done any prolonged highway runs since I got the Road King in December. I've been averaging 38-42 mpg so far with this type of riding.

Agree.Mine with a PCV gets those numbers.

I would check for what kind of tuner it has or download.

Stage 1 '07 Ultra and I am constantly fooling around with PCIII maps to get the ever elusive mileage/cooling combination perfect. No luck so far....current map is an "advanced" map (front and rear jugs tuned differently) and the bike runs awesome - no pinging, runs cooler than other maps, but I get 35 mpg on 10% ethanol premium. This is the best canned map I have found and I am going to lean out the cruise range to get better - worried about range more than anything.

Bone stock my bike got about 42, worst it got was 32 or 33 with a really rich map. I have never gotten close to 50 even with my TC88 Wide Glide - no idea how someone with a 800 pound Ultra can get 50 other than by rounding up or a calculation error. I'm just saying...

I remove my wind deflectors below the fairing during the warmer months and have noticed on average a 2 mpg change. Gas here stays at 10% ethanol pretty much year round so I don't think that has any effect on my results. My best mileage with PCIII was prior to dyno at 39 on a road trip. After dyno best has been 37 as he did richen it up for +5 hp and +5 tq. My best fuel mileage is when I don't have my buddys with me. It doesn't take much twist to reduce mpg especially in the power band. Worst has been 31.5 with 4 or 5 other riders and lots of twisting it. No complaints here more than likely it is the way you ride.

You have had the bike only two weeks? You should look under each side cover and under the seat for the presence of some kind of tuner. It wouldn't hurt to take a look at the plugs. There is something about that bike that is not right. That mileage is way too low.

Don't forget it seems like most of todays bikes have some serious speed errors in their speedos. This affects the odometer too.
A speedo showing a + 5 mph error will return 3.18 more mpg than a correct speedo and errors are usually linear so if you are crusing at max error you are showing much better mileage. 6% deviation at 80 mph = 4.8 mph and 6% at 35 mph = 2.1 mph. Bikes with mpg readouts use the ECM to cakculate actual metered fuel that goes through the injectors but still rely on the speedo to get mileage.

Hard to believe those figures. The only time I got anywhere near those numbers was in Colorado. On the average, I get around 38\40 mpg which seems to be the normal for most of us. Last week on a 300 mile run, two up and running around 70 mph I got 39 mpg which was pretty good. 50 mpg !!! Lucky you!!

I also think 31 is a little low. I have a 2012 SG, Woods 555 cams and Fuel Moto Stage 1 with a PowerVison.

Two up, toll road 85 MPH - about 42 - 44 MPG
One up, back and forth to work - depends on my wrist, 38 - 42 MPG
Weekends, playing with the rest of the guys, stop to stop, 34 - 38 MPG

I don't feel so bad now. I typically get 34 to 35 on my 2012 Limited. That's a mix of 65 to 80mph freeway miles and in town. Best was 40 on mostly small mountain roads.

o6 is an 88ci and 5 speed right? My 05 got about 33 at that speed with winter blend gas. Anything over 70 really hurts mileage. Summer gas blends would give me about 36. It got worse at 80-85 mph.

Did you have the lower fairing vents closed? That will eat 1-2 mpg at that speed.
