IMO the 3.5's are a little louder than the 4's but the 4's are still plenty loud enough. The 4's have a deeper sound to them though. I also like the looks of the 4's better than the 3.5's. The only bad thing with the slip on is that you'll still have the cat in your head pipe (unless you already removed it) so the mufflers wont be as loud. Go with the true duals or extreme true duals, put a stage 1 on the bike and let her run better. I have the 4" extreme true duals on my SG and love the sound sound and looks it gives the bike.
@ Orange- Don't really care for the look of True Duals, Esp placement of the pipe near the passenger's right foot (kids)....going to have the Cat Removed and a Stage I put on in the near future.....Will the dealer take the Cat out when they do the Stage I and tune if I want to maitain the stock head pipes?
I have had both. In my opinion, the 4" look way better and that extra 1/2" is very noticeable in a good way. Lastly, The 4" have a deeper sound and less of the raspiness that the 3 1/2" have.
I've got the 3.5's on my "worked" King.
Got the 4" for my RGU and couldn't wait to put em on.
Quieter and deeper than the 3.5. Sounds like somebody's doin' a drum roll on a kettle drum cruising down the highway. Was a little concerned about the quietness tho... hopefully that'll change when the headpipe and cams go in this saturday. They also get a little louder with milage (notice I didn't say age.)
Think you'll be happy with 'em. NOTHING ELSE has the same sound.
Will the dealer take the Cat out when they do the Stage I and tune if I want to maitain the stock head pipes?
I wonder. It's against the law for a shop to modify epa mandated emissions equipment. ( I don't really understand how Harley dealers get away with installing stage III and IV kits, either. ) Actually cutting out a catalytic converter out of a street legal exhaust system would certainly be frowned on by the epa, you wouldn't think a dealer would take the risk. We're probably not that far away from a time when the dealers won't install anything that's marked "race use only" on a bike that is licensed for the street.
Although I suppose it certainly couldn't hurt to ask.
So other than removing the Cat, what are the other headpipe options if I don't want True Duals? Are there any OEM "look" pipes....in other words....Pipes that caress the V like stock but eliminate the Cat?
Where's the best place to buy the Rhinehart stuff? My dealer carries their products, but the pricing is the same as on the Rhinehart website. Anywhere to buy that can beat the list price?
