Question Question about stereo going out?

I had a post yesterday about my stereo going out while i ride and once i cut the ignition off and back on the sound would come back on. the power to the radio isn't cutting off just the speakers which are pushed by the j&m 250 amp. I got mixed responses that it is the factory hk radio going bad and that the amp could be getting hot. my question is how do i determine if its the amp or the radio?

Im hoping its the radio as i've been seriously wanting to go with an after market radio anyway. whats you guys take on this problem?

Unhook the amp and see if the problem goes away. If not, it's the head unit.....

+1.

You could also check the radio for codes while the fault is present as I suggested yesterday.

I didn't even think to do that, thats an easy test. I'll have to do that. i think i may still go ahead and change the radio, now that i see i can get the harnest for my controls to still work. thats really the only reason I've been keeping the radio in there... thanks guys
