I had SE-255 cams put in a while back and the shop screwed up the first time and didn't get them lined up properly and the bike ran like crap. They at first tried to blame it on the tune, but I had them check it and they said it was off and they fixed it.
This is the part where I might be a bit paranoid...I was wondering if a bike with the 255's in it should still sound like it has a bit of a lope. The bike runs strong and pulls hard, but when idling, it definitely has a little bit of a lope...just wanting to make sure that's normal so I can stop freaking out and thinking maybe it was off by 2 cogs and they only fixed it by 1....
I know that's probably crazy, but with the money I have in the bike, I can't really afford to be doing any damage by riding it with the cams not lined up perfectly :-p
Call me crazy if you must, but lemme know if a small lope sound is normal. It almost sounds like the slightest stutter every few seconds.
Yes the 255's will have a little lope for sure. If it was off you would know it. If it is off 4 cogs it won't run trust me, so if you had it running before it had to be only 1 or 2 cogs. A quick check is do a compression test yourself if they are close to the same up in the range of 170psi to 195psi you should be good, the thing is they should be close to the same. Also you can pull the plugs and rotate through the cycles and check where things are at pistons TDC lifters TDC ect. They will have a nice little lope and sound should have picked up quite a bit. Good luck.
Yeah, I found a couple of vids on youtube of 103s with 225's and they had that same sound...like a smooth idel then a brief stutter or hesitation then back to the smooth idle for a bit. Glad it was just me being paranoid
