I have managed to strip the threads on one of my 2008 street glide front fork studs.
I am going to pick up the replacement stud, but am curious as to what is the best way to remove the damaged stud. (is it threaded in? Left hand thread/Right hand thread?)
I'm assuming the stud that holds the cap on the bottom of the fork right??
Right hand thread, just grab it with a pair of vice-grips and I'll turn right out. Be a little more careful putting a new one in though, I always use two nuts to install a stud (jamed tight aginst each other) and you can turn it in with a wrench. You can also remove it that way if you don't have a pair of vice-grips.
Any hardware store probably carries a stud that will work, its just 5/16 corse thread on both ends, best I remember anyway.
