IDS Intergrated Drive System...

Instead of a belt and a sprocket..
It is a sprocket drum 2 sections with rubber blocks to dampen the "pulse"
Hope this helps

Description:

Introduced on the '08 Touring models, the Isolated Drive System improves rider comfort and ride quality by dampening the mechanical noise and vibration caused by the engine's torque pulses. The rubber compensation elements in the sprocket act like a cushion, absorbing the power pulses from the engine. With the IDS installed, the motorcycle feels more refined, and is quieter while accelerating, shifting and cruising. Kit includes sprocket, compensator bowl, and installation hardware.

Thanks Jim
You should put the information of what kind of bike you have for a signature. IDS came stock on 08 flh bikes. Adding IDS and a se compensator reduces the shock on your crankshaft.

Highly recommended improvement.

From a 07 owner that upgraded. it's a bit pricey, but very worthwhile.

Mine doesn't have it and I'll be darned if I can tell what everyone was complaining about. Just sounds like a Harley to me. Don't understand it.
