Default Is the Kuryakyn GranTailgater bag to big?

Been going through the different option for touring luggage to get for my upcoming bike trip. I like the look of the Kury Grand Touring as well as the Saddlemen Saddlestow BR3400EX. BUT, as I was looking around I ran into the Kuy GranTailgater. This thing looks big with enough room to pack whatever you need. Plus the easy install along with the handle and rollers seems to make this a great bag.

The only thing through is that it does look REALLY big. Almost to big. Has anyone used this bag. It gets nothing but 4 to 5 stars and just about every site I've been on, but was wondering if anyone here has any first hand knowledge and what your thoughts were.

Here's the link to the bag. http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/670/GranTailgater-Bag

So what do you think? To big or just right for a long trip?

I don't think it looks to big. Need the space for long trips!

I haven't owned one, but I saw one on a friend's bike. It was huge, but nicely put together and it held a lot of stuff. The advantage of these types of bags is that once you get to your destination they come off and you're back to your normal riding configuration. I personally don't see a lot of value for the rolling wheels and handle. Seems like a lot of extra weight for minimal utility.

I never used that one before, but I use the Grantour bag all the time. I have done multiple fly and rides, use this as my carry on. It, along with the two sadlebags is more than enough for a week on a Streetglide. I use it at home for weekend or longer getaways, so I can just pop it off at my destination......

oh and if your flying, get the Harley Bag liners, pre-pack your saddlebags. Make one bag to leave on the bike and the other to take to your hotel room along with the Grantour bag......

I have the UltraTour Bag. Held everything I needed to get from Florida to California. I would buy again in a minute.

It is a big bag. you got to remember you will be very top heavy with a lot on the tour pak, it make a big difference especially if you are carrying someone. I have switched to a small pull behind trailer for those long trips. Can get everything you and your partner need in that.

I use a German Deemeed that holds 100 litres and your bag is 104 litres. I will be looking into this for myself.

My bagger is my RV, holds both myself and my wife (no trailer) and a bunch of ultralight camping gear and a couple of Kermit chairs. With an Asus tablet, Android smart phone and a 12 volt DC Powerpod (with SAE connector) and battery tender it is a mobile office too. I wouldn't change it for anything and I can go anywhere they accept motorcycles and tents. I use the biggest bag I can find for that type of trip - usually weekends and vacations only. I have a smaller subset for picnicking.

The more room the better on long trips ESPECIALLY if you don't have a chase truck. Are you goin with an ole lady? ? They take up a lot of room, most want to devote half your space to shoes. You want all your chit and some basis tools at least.
