Default Cheap Slip-On exhaust

My buddy bought a brand new SG last year and wants to make it sound like Harley now. He is on a tight budget and is not concerned about boosting performance right now. Are there any decent slip-ons available in the $300 range?

Any recommendation would be appreciated, thanks.

Vance ans Hines twin slash rounds. Think they are $350 from direct Harley parts. Sound great. And keep an eye on the classifieds. I picked up a used set for $125 shipped. I have never had issues with any Vance and Hines product I've ever used.

Without a doubt, CycleShack touring slipons.

Can be had brand new for $200-$250 via a number of eBay sellers.

Fuelmoto's Jackpots would be a good choice too - about $360. Great quality, superb tone, all around great slip-on.

Also look in the classifieds or ebay. Great value can be had on take offs. When I get back home next month from my "extended vacation in the desert" here in Kuwait, I'll be selling my V&H Twin Slash Ovals for about $200.

For new, any of the above mentioned would all fit the bill. I would also throw Rush in there. Getting a bigger baffle will help it "sound like a Harley" if your friend still has his CAT in the header. It really kills a lot of sound. But it will sound better with just about any slip-on, just not quite as good as it would without the CAT. But that's opening a whole other jar of worms.

Have him take a look at the baffle core replacement kit from Fullsac if he still has the stock mufflers on. You can get 1.75" "quite" baffles or the normal 2" set. Just have to cut the stockers right at the taper and use the included end caps that you choose.
$179.00 before shipping. Might be a good option to start with.

Check out Wild Pigs slip on mufflers. They look great, have EXCEELENT customer service, and have easily removable/interchangable baffles. The baffle choices are: 1 3/4", 1 7/8", 2", 2 1/4", & 2 1/2 ". They sound pretty much like Rush mufflers. I have the Pigs on both my '04 Ultra and my '08 police EG and love 'em! At $175 + shipping direct from the company they cost half what my V & H did, and they sound much, much better. True Harley sound, deep but not sharp. A rumble at idle that grows steadily with rpm. My Ultra has true dual, and the 2" baffles with good packing make it a "just right" blend of deep Harley sound that isn't too loud or obnoxious for long touring. My '08 police 103 has stock head pipes, and I went with 2 1/2 baffles and good packing. A ploice bike needs to have a little more "presence" to put it politely, and mine kind sounds like Darth Vader's bike sounds (if Darth Vader had a bike, that is!).

The Wild Pig Pipes have held up well since I got them a year ago. The only thing I found with them is that the packing that comes installed from the factory is pretty flimsy, so before installing them just pull the baffles and repack them with good quality packing. The baffles are so easy to pull that it takes a 1/2" socket and an allen wrench and 30 seconds once you get the hang of it. if you don't like the baffles you ordered from the company and want to go up or down in size, just call 'em and you get alive person on the phone. They ship you a new set, no fuss, and and 2-3 days later your in business. The reverse slash cut looks great on my Ultra. They are a great "cheap" alternative worth looking into.

They are my FIRST choice from now on.
