Cancel ESP?
If I owned it already...probably would not cancel..
There is a LAW that says they have to prove that pulling a trailer (or something you did) caused the problem but before they can deny the claim. It may take you a while fighting them to get your bike fixed but the proof will be on them.
If you have a good dealer, and approach it nicely...you probably will never have an issue. I would not go to the dealer pulling the trailer...I know the hitch will be there but can they prove you every pulled a trailer or used it for one of those cooler holders that hang off the back of the bike?
I did not buy the ESP...past experince with one on a Volvo when I was younger taught me a lesson about ESP.

I had anesp on my last bike and pulled a trailer. I never had a problem with a warranty issue at my local dealer but distant dealers looked at me with suspicion. I never had any warranty claims that could be attributed to towing a trailer either.
Kirk I think mine said if I pulled a trailer or made it a police Service bike the warranty was no longer valid. I canceled my esp and due to your time frame it may be prorated refund. Read the fine print I think it tells you nut can't recall for sure
Just got off the phone the finance guy where I bought the bike.
He asked why.told him what I was going to do.It seemed like he was unaware the warranty would be voided. He spoke to the SM and said yes it could void it.I would have to prove them wrong if the trailer was the cause. He said it was a grey area and depends on what the SW says.
Looks like I could get back about $1000-1250.He emailed me the form.
I guess canceling would take the guess work out!

Stay on top of it if you cancel. Took me a year to get mine refunded. Make a copy and have the service manager send you a signed copy back where he has to sign. It helped me when dealing with moco cause the jack wagon at salinas harley never sent my paper work in to get the refund

My Pulling a Trailer Warranty Story
I was on a trip pulling my trailer and had the primary bearing fail during the initial factory warranty period. I diagnosed it with the help of this forum by the ‘sound of rocks or marbles in a can’ when you pull the clutch in at idle. So I knew that it was a failure of the drive train from the get go — something that could indicate the additional load of the trailer caused the problem.
Because I was traveling and had nowhere to securely leave the trailer I just said screw it and rode to the nearest dealer, Rocky Mountain HD. The service tech came out to the parking lot and confirmed what I thought but made it very clear that I would have to disconnect the trailer and park it in the parking lot because there was absolutely no room to maneuver the bike with the trailer attached in the shop. Knowing I was a traveler they got me in and out in a couple of hours all covered under the factory warranty.
This was the factory warranty not the ESP and it certainly doesn’t mean that every dealer, every time would not have questioned the trailer issue. To answer the OPs question
I would not. First there some things like the radio going out that clearly have no relation to pulling a trailer and second there is a good chance of failure of a component that could be argued that the trailer caused it being covered.
It seems to me that there is a lot of paranoia about warranties and that dealers make money on warranty repairs (maybe it is at a lower rate. I don’t know how that works.) it makes their grass greener by performing warranty work not by denying warranty work.

I just want to say Dont cancel your ESP
I've been pulling my bushtec since 05. I've never had a problem from any dealership regardless of the reason I was there. I unhook it and leave it right outside the door while the bike is in the shop.
the dealer is there to make money yours and the insurance companys. The last thing they want to do is **** you off and you go down the road to the next shop giving them the money you should have given the 1st shop.
Then when you get home you get on places like here and tell the world that Dealership X is a bunch of a$$holes and would not fix your bike. Causing more lost sales.
Besides you paid for the ESP. And Harley DOES NOT want to give it back.
On my 05 Uktra My ESP paid for itself plus a little more.
