Default Which would you buy?

I'm in the market for a red ultra classic and have found a few to choose from.

First is a 2004 with only 13xx miles on it. The seller is firm at $12K, I don't want to pay that much and I have concerns about the seals and gaskets for sitting so long not to mention it's only a tc88.

Second is an 09 with 55xx miles, bottom line price at the dealer is $16,995. By the time I get a warranty, pay dealer fees, and tax, I'm in the neighborhood of $20,500.

Third is for $22,000 out the door, I could get a new 2012 with a 103. I could pay cash for the first but would have to finance the second and third. I'm in a great position financially for the first time in my adult life because I have no debt and would like to keep it that way.

What you think?

Get the 09. Forget the warranty you will be money ahead.

#3 would be my choice. No worries about previous history and nothing better than a nice shiny new bike. Especially if you are planning to keep it for the long run.

They are all somewhat balanced in value for price and not way out of line.

The 09 would be my choice as it has the upgraded touring frame. But only if the dealer would accept $17K out the door.

If not walk and wait a week. I suspect that they might call back. 55,000 miles is not that bad for a TC but some would be weary about it and the dealer just may understand that they must deal a little.

Next choice would be the 04 but again offer $10K cash and let the seller think about it.

Last would be the new, but again buying outright with no trade, I know of dealers that drop the set up charge and knock off $750 on MSRP. That was at the beginning of the model year. 13's are not that far around the corner.

My suggestions and advice is free so that is what it is worth - nothing.

Tough decision but avoiding payments can be priceless.

forget #1, old frame & 88--sure there are other problems too. #3 is only $1500 more than #2 and you get a brand new bike. #3 all the way

3 out of the options sounds best. Put the cash down you would for #1 and finance the rest over 5 years. Pay it off faster if you can. If.you can't the payment will be smaller and more manageable

22K on the new red Ultra is MSRP. If you are getting out the door (taxes, title, license, fees, etc.) for that I would take it. If it includes ABS and security, it is a no brainer. Folks out my way are trying to add $1,600 dealer set up for the priviledge of being able to walk into their store. That won't fly.
