Some have postulated that paint with a metal flake affects reception with an antenna in the fairing. Can anyone confirm results to support this arguement either way? I have a '12 SG with ember red sunglo paint. It does have a flake to the paint and internal antennas don't work well for me. I am located in St. Louis, MO.

I'm about to get my CVO rear fender and struts back from the painter. I've been trying to decide whether to move my shorty antenna up near the strut cover where I've seen it on some CVOs, or go with the hidden deal. You guys aren't really helping to clear up this decision... C'mon folks, work it. What is the answer?

I run two of these taped to either side of the inside of the fairing. I started with one and reception was not very good. Someone convinced me that two would be better. Like most guys I figured yeah, two always seemed like a good idea, so I have two coming together to a pigtail adapter. My reception is pretty respectable. A/M, F/M and even a weather channel, not as many stations as I get in my truck but still, not bad.
