New Member Gone to the Bagger World with Questions already???
So, I decided to trade my 2010 fatboy lo in for a grampy bike. Well, thats what the guys at work are calling it because I am only 23. A lot of guys told me to buy the bagger to begin with, but I did not listen and bought the Lo. It was a nice bike, but I wanted something more practical, yet still an eye catcher, so I opted for a 2012 Denim Street Glide. Had to order the bike, dealer could not find one, with the options I wanted, So it is suppose to be shipped on the 3rd of april, which is giving me time to decide on some goodies.
So, my first question, like most people is exhaust. I like the dresser dual look, (vance and hines) will I be happy with the performance compared to the power duals? For slip-ons I am thinking the high outputs.. (all black)
My goal is that sound that is expected from a harley, Not looking to break speed records with this bike. I want a sweet sounding Bagger with a clean look.
Thanks, for any helps guys.. Im sure more questions on Mods to come.
Welcome to the touring family. I love my denim X. I put BUB 7 TDs on my bike and have been very happy with their performance. If you are interested in dynos and comparing numbers, you may see better numbers if you were running a 2 into 1.
I am still able to ride with my group and keep up. I am at the back most of the time, but its not because of the performance
Congrats on the new glide. I'm riding 2011 black denim glide with 103" with dresser duals and twin slash slip ons. Awesome sound, not as deep as I would like. Buddy of mine ran power duals and were noticeably higher pitched (more tingy). I've heard rinehart on baggers with great sound and samsons with ridiculous sound. it's all preference. Can't beat the craftsmanship of the V&H. Try to stay away from BUB, Great sound but customer service is horrible. Performance with all V&H duals is comparable. More performance with 2-1, but you lose the look.
As a side note, when I got dyno'd the techs in the dealer said it was one of the loudest baggers they've heard in a while.
Charlie, I do like the classic dresser look for the bikes. I was always told the rineharts cant touch the sound of the V/H. They look great, but are defiantly quiet. I will probably stick with the VH. Youtube videos are nice, but don't do them justice. So, getting opinions on here are really helpfull. Did you go with chrome? or black out?
If you want a deep rumble at idle and a nice rumble while cruising (that levels out so you can still hear your stereo) and a deep bark when you get on it take a look at the Rush Big Louies. At first I was not convinced when I put them on my 11 EG Ultra but after some baffle mods they sound incredible. Everytime I ride someone asks me "what pipes do you have on there, they sound awesome".
Nice choice on the new bike.
You're going to love your SG.
I went with the Dresser Duals for mine and put a set of V&H Monster Ovals on it.
The combination sound incredible.
Nice deep rumble but really barks when you get on it.
