Take a look at how the Memphis Shades Batwing mounting hardware works. Their's is angle adjustable with a slotted hole. I like the fairing tilted back some, too.
Thanks for the awesome write up and pics. I have been looking into this fairing for some time and I think you just sold me on it. This may sound like a dumb question but does the sony ipod unit come with the actual ipod itself or is that sold seperatly? Thanks.

I didn't get the unit with the iPod tune tray. I got the head unit that allows you to play the iPod/iPhone through the USB or AUX ports or simply play mp3s from a flash drive through the USB port. However, neither units come with an iPod. That is sold separately.
In your opinion is the amp necessary to hear the tunes at all speeds? Getting ready to order one and don't know if the amp is necessary or not. Thanks.

Sorry for the delayed response, but I can't really give you a straight answer anyways. I really don't know what the setup would sound like without the amp, so I can't really compare the two. I will say that after I lowered the bass settings on the head unit, I can really blast the speakers without distortion. I think the amp is giving me good power to do this. I have a moderately loud exhaust and the fairing blocking the wind across my ears really accentuates my exhaust noise. That being said, I have to crank the volume up pretty good to overcome the exhaust noise. I'm not sure if I could do that with or without the amp. Maybe get the setup without the amp and try it first. After disassembling my fairing and checking out the guts, I see that it wouldn't be too hard to add an amp later.

I was looking at the same fairing and I was wondering if you could post one more picture of the space between your apes and the fairing. I like to keep my 16" apes pretty forward and I'm just wondering how far forward I could have them with the fairing one.
Your bike looks great.
Dude. me likey. Have made some major hints to my family that it would be am awesome Father's Day present. Probably wind up selling socks & ties in garage sale to assist me in the purchase.

I bit the bullet and ordered mine yesterday. Too many good reviews not to for the price. Rosshog, would you recommend a handlebar holder for your iPod/iPhone? Thinking that might be the easiest for song and volume control.
I put a reckless on a 97 fatboy that i turned into a bagger. Great product as far as im concerned. I had to do a few mods to the brackets because of my wider stretched tanks and i used 4 5 1/4" instead of just 5" speakers but it all turned out great. A few of my friends also have them and everyone is happy with them.
