Has anyone tried one of these...any thoughts on how it will affect the cooling of the engine? I though it might provide a more concentrated air flow on the engine.
The famous fork baffle. They are made more for driver comfort than anything to do with engine cooling. The earlier Touring models came with (black) one standard but they stopped putting them on. Can't recall the year. In fact HD recommend removing them in hotter temps. Some people say they work great for limiting buffeting. Some say they do nothing. Some say they cause higher engine temps and some say it has no effect.
Do a search here on the forum for "fork baffle". Just as I have it in parentheses. You will get plenty of feedback.
• Replaces original or makes great addition to models that no longer have them from the factory.
My bike had one from new. I am going to guess the factory left them off later models, as the heat build-up from ever leaner air/fuel mixtures raised rider discomfort.

I was concerned about heat build up if they did nothing to direct more air onto the engine...and it appears that they do not...Thanks for your input.
I have one of the harley ones on mine and it saved my face from a gravel filled clay clod that hit my front fender at about 50 miles per hour. all the debris that came up under the fairing hit that deflector and sent it back out around the sides of the tank instead of straight up at the switch housing. I haven't noticed a heat issue with mine, and after the clay clod, it's staying on.
