ok so this is the information i can give you. my bike is an 06 street glide, gear drive cams( andrews 37, fueling camplate, fueling race oil pump, recently installed V&H HO pro pipe ( recent as in the end of august 2011 , stage 1 with down load . runs great no sputtering no backfiring only thing that is off is that under hard throttle it sounds like is rapping (kind of like if a donut gasket on a car was blown out) dosent do it any other time. now by hard throttle i don't mean beating on it, more like climbing steep hills kind of throttle. any suggestions ? oh and i did replace header gasket to try and see if that was the problem and it seemed to be better for a short time
It might be your compensator sprocket slipping? It is in the case on the left side by your left foot.Mine would bang when I hit the throttle, especially in high gear at lower R.P.M. I am getting a S.E. compensator installed right now.I could be totally wrong too...Just my opinion, good luck.
mkguitar : thanks for your response already running 93 octane and saving to have it dyno tuned and i forgot to say it sounds like it is only coming from the top end front
2010 ultra man : i know its hard to tell sitting on the bike but it really sounds higher in the motor like near the exhaust port or maybe even the rocker arm area kind of wondering if the rocker arms might be contacting the covers but it only happens while under heavier load like up hill or hard acceleration , matbe its just me and thats the way these pipes are giving off sound ?
My bike does the same thing.no mods done to the driveline. It sounds like the front header is leaking.I cannot duplicate it when i'm off the bike.It only does it on a pull and running less than 3000 rpm.Let me know what you find out.
