i have a 2006 flhxi and when i get to 1/2 a tank of fuel or less i get a rattle in what sounds like the fuel door at idle only if i have a full tank no sound any idea i would like for the sound to go away

I had a 2003 Ultra that did this. It was coming from inside the tank. I think it was either the float or the bracket holding the fuel filter in place. It never did hurt anything as I lived with it for several thousand miles.

Sounds like the fuel system isn't latched into place properly. When ya take the canopy off ya have to reach into the tank and release a tab that holds the fuel pump and filter system in place. When the tank is reassembled, the swinging pump filter system has to be clicked back into place or else it will swing free inside the tank.
I'm not really sure what it might be hitting inside the tank, but given the laws of physics, if ya keep hitting something in the same place with something hard, you're bound to knock a hole in it.
