Question Dent removal

Does anyone know a paintless dent guy near Portland, Oregon?
The ding bat says he wont work on fuel tanks.

Not so much a "ding bat" ... you've got to be careful to NOT damage the sealer in the tank and there isn't much room for maneuvering the tools inside the tank with the fuel pump in the way.

I honestly doubt that a dent in a fuel tank can be removed with the paintless technique. Tanks are pretty thick steel, and hard to move.

This mite sound stupid and I will agree but I witnessed a fellow pressurize a tank with air of coarse and popped the dent right out. Good luck!

No ding bat, his technique won't work! Removing dents from car panels which are made of a darned sight thinner steel is relatively easy. I had a dent remover look at my dented tank and he was sympathetic, but couldn't help. You need a panel beater who knows how to work metal properly and has the correct tools. The chap who did mine produced a perfect result.

If you must pressurize the fuel tank do it with a fluid, not with air.

I successfully pulled a dent out of my wife's tank using a glue puller kit. The bad part is, I also pulled off the decal under the paint. She sold that bike two years ago and is still pissed at me about that.

Did you mean a liquid? Air IS a fluid.

To the OP - I encourage people all the time to look at their insurance policies. This is probably a comprehensive claim, and a claim may cost you less than the heartache of having to do this the hard way. . . AND it will be done right, without making a bad mark on your insurance policy.

My OL and I got some dings on our bikes in October, from a gravel truck with an unsecured load. Well, and my headlight got shattered. For the cost of her DEDUCTIBLE ($250), she got her windshield replaced, one of her forks replaced, headlight replaced, and her entire bike painted. For the cost of MY deductible ($100), they're out for BOTH forks, a windshield, Fender paint, and a headlight.

If your bike is insured, use that insurance. That's why you pay for it.

A good dentless guy can do it. They do them all the time. Some with slight pressure. Some with cups and dry ice. But I have personal seen a lot done . But I am nowhere near you

You are right, I meant a liquid.
Thin mineral oil is easy to clean with gasoline after pressurization of the vessel to be deformed.
