I just think it's funny that the o.p. PAID the dealer, for sumpin' that is a very EASY fix...IF he only had the gumption & desire to take the hot damn fairing off himself......He prolly has a garage with NO tools, NO shop manual, and a shiny scooter to impress his friends & neighbors!!
SUMPIN? WHAT IS SUMPIN. what are doing here pumping water out of the basement. mice in the fairing is a common thing. so you have to do SUMPIN about it, dryer sheets work good
I use fabric softener sheets. Put them in the end of the pipes, under the seat, and in the small storage bag that's on the backrest. I also stuff them in the arms of my jackets and in my helmets. Never had a problem with mice.
A couple of weeks ago my wife came home while I was in the garage and said "had the bike out today eh?" I'm wondering how the heck she knew that. She just smiled and went in the house. Several minutes later I saw the softener sheet laying on the floor under the toolbox. That's where it ended up when it blew out of the pipes when I started the bike. Darn, she's an observant woman! lol

better she saw the dryer sheet and not dog food. and yes she is observant
I have not had this problem before, but I was at my local dealer a few weeks ago and there was a bike there in service that the guy started for the first time after winter storage and it just started running like crap then stopped...won't start.
They tore it down and figured out a mouse went up the pipe and actually made a nest in the head somehow....got caught in the valves with all his nest crap when it started!
Here's the stuff I use around my bike. It's called Fresh Cab and is guaranteed to keep rats and mice away. The farmers use it in the cabs of their tractors and combines to keep the mice from destroying the expensive electrical systems in them. I had a mouse that took up residence in the heater fan in my truck. I turned the fan on and it just barely ran. I removed the motor and out came a pile of leaves, vines and two newborn mice chopped all to crap. I put some of this Fresh Cab inside my truck and some cotton ***** soaked in peppermint oil and have not had any problems in the past 3 years. Sounds like Slewfoot didn't do well in English or gene pool is very very shallow. Maybe his first cousin is his daddy?
The BIL had mice ruin all his wiring in the fairing of his Ultra. He had to take it in for a pretty much rewiring the whole thing. Yes, he kept his bike in a shed. No, he doesn't keep it there anymore (we keep it in our storage container - critter free!
