Default Siren antenna for security system

Why is it important that the antenna for the siren doesn't touch the frame? I bought the siren to add to my factory security and I didn't get any velcro with it. Despite having read about it in the directions I didn't think about it as parts of the directions were wrong so I figured there were some updates and the velcro wasn't needed.
If I need to I can swing by Home Depot and get a strip of velcro

I suspect it has to do with grounding the antenna and it not working. I bought the 'Smart Siren II' (I think that's it) and it came with velcro. FYI.

Yes, thats the reason. That, and it just won't get a good signal if its touching the frame.

It's because of the transmitting distance for the optional pager. If the antenna is grounded, the pager won't work right.

I think there are two versions of the siren, if I recall. One doesn't have the ability to activate the pager and doesn't have a antenna. Are you sure you bought the right one.
