The screws should be self threading and metal is harder then plastic, so it should screw in with a little inward pressure. Just make sure you screw the long screw in the proper hole or your be buying another inner fairing.

Try some bar soap or hard wax on the screw. Just drag the screw across the bar of soap or hard wax to load the threads. It should add lubrication to aid in threading them in.

I just added some 6.5 in my fairing and the screws were tight and still not in all the way so i added some washers to them instead of taking a chance of cracking the plastic. They are tight and i dought very much if they will come out....Better safe than sorry!!!

You are not alone. Those screws are a bitch and get so tight that you think you are going to break off the threaded boss. Use some lubrication and some washers to take up the space once you know it's tight enough. The last thing you want to do is break off the female boss from the inner faring.

Is it me, or is the HD Fairing Design kinda antiquated ? (meaning $hittty) I suppose it works OK so let it be ...

Whats shitty about the design? The fact that the torqe spec or the words do not over tighten isnt printed on the outer fairing next to the screws?
