Detachable luggage racks: H-D or aftermarket recomms?
I'm looking at putting a 2-up detachable luggage rack on my '12 RK. I already have the H-D 4-point detachable mounting dock installed, and am curious whether there are aftermarket alternatives of equal/better quality for less $ than H-D offerings.
Would also appreciate any first-hand experiences / recommendations with either H-D detachable luggage racks or aftermarket alternatives. If this has already been covered by other threads, would appreciate link(s) to 'em. Not looking for used parts, or I'd be scanning the Touring Parts section. Thanks in advance for any help the collective minds are willing to share.

Have had both.......hard to beat the flawless fit and finish of harley stuff. you sprang for 20 large on the bike, don't screw it up with "just as nice" crap.
The carrying area of the HD 2 up luggage rack is shallow due to the up swept end of the rack. As a result my bag won't fit in the short space that's flat. So when I need to haul luggage I use the flat topped Tour Pak rack instead. It works out just fine. Maybe the after market version is larger.
Just one guy's opinion, but Motherwell Products are not "just as nice"; they are superior in many ways to those options offered by HD.
Fit and finish are excellent. Clean designs. $ will not break the bank.
Thank you all for your responses to my questions. I will take a peek in the FS section, just in case.
On the Motherwell vs. H-D point, I need to take a look there to see if the Motherwell product(s) will fit with my H-D mounting hardware. Also, when I scanned their site, it didn't look like there was much difference in price. Oh, and speaking of price - the point about spending 20 large on a bike and then getting cheap on parts is not lost on me. But I figure if there's more/better alternatives folks have 1st-hand experience with, I'll tap in to that knowledge where possible and maybe point those saved bux toward other discretionary uses. Lol!

Nothing wrong with the Mother stuff....I had the same rack as in your picture on my Road King, but I got rid of it for the detachable Harley rack. The difference was night and day.
