Default A little assist please

I'm picking up my new Ultra Limited on Friday. On my old Road King, I did the stage on route with dyno etc.
What is the best thing to do now? Someone said that I don't need to have it dyno'd. What is the best efi module? I plan on putting on a set of Vance & Hines Slip ons for now. Appreciate any help on this. Thanks.

Default Well...

...maybe you should ride it for a little while and see if you think it really needs all that.
Why spend money on something you may not really need?
Enjoy your new ride.

I am sure you will get as many different answers as you have people respond.

IMO and based on my personal experience (I have had the PC III, SERT, and Thundermax) I like the ThunderMax TBW version. You load the base map for your set-up and it will auto-tune (it is a closed loop setup) the fuel mixture based on AFR's after that. If you change your set-up you load a different map in it. If yo iso desire you can adjust the AFR'S, timing, and a bunch of other parameters. I have used this for almost 2 years and 20k miles going cross country from the heat of Death Valley to over 12,500 ft in elevation and no problems. The service and support of Zippers/ThunderMax is great and very responsive if you have questions or issues.

Now with a 2012 you may have to (I just don't know) change the O2 bungs on the exhaust headers - something you may have to check into. The ThunderMax uses wide band O2 sensors, meaning they can accurately measure the O2 over a very wide range. The stock Harley is a narrow band which only measure over a very very small range.

This unit replaces your stock ECM and does not piggy back on it or try to fool it like other units. It is (or was for me anyway) very easy to install. Pull out the stock Harley O2 sensors, install the new O2 sensors, route the wires, pull of stock ECM, install Thundermax ECM, load map and go.

well that is my opinion anyway. Hope that helps.

If you're just gonna do Slip-Ons, you don't need to do anything else. If/when you add a High Flow Air Cleaner, then you need to do some sort of Fuel Management.

For Fuel Management, I would recommend calling Fuel Moto. I have their Power Vision Unit and really like it. They can program it before they send it to you specifically for your bike and if you make any changes down the road, they will e-mail you a new program.

This is my system (same bike as you) and I really like it, but opinions vary widely when it comes to this stuff.

V & H Power Duals (Great Torque and I like the look plus you lose the "Cat" so the bike runs much cooler)

Rinehart 4" Slip-Ons (Really nice Harley rumble without being too loud)

Harley "Ventilator" Air Cleaner (Just like the look)

Power Vision Tuner from Fuel Moto

Good Luck and congrats on the new bike!
