I was getting on it last night,,the speedo needle past 85 and I shifted into 5th gear,,I was wondering,,since I have no tach,,how do I know if I'm exceeding my engine parameters in the RPM ???? my old crotch rocket would cut out at a certain rpm,, wondering if my harley does that too??
I dont think it does though,, as the service manual didnt refrence anything in that regard
An expert will be along soon, but I am pretty confident current bikes do have a limiter, built into the electronics. My Sporty has no rev counter and it flies, yet I've not over-revved it AFAIK!
Assuming it hasn't been disabled your bike has a rev limit at 5500 rpm. If you want to engage the limiter wind it out in first or second. I am sure it will kick in for you.
I had a sport bike that would do 100 in first gear before hitting the rev limiter.
