Ok, here my situation. Pulled the cam cover off my 04 this weekend to check to cam tensioners, and surprisingly, they were hardly worn at at. That being said, i ran across a set of SE204 cams a while back, new in the box i want to put in it (the 25149-00 version). I know ill need a set of adjustable pushrods, but what else do i need? I'm not want to spend anymore than i have to for this swap, as this winter im going to put a complete 98" kit, camplate upgrade, etc in it. Any advice would be appreciated.
I wouldn't wait for the 98". The cams will wake up your 88" and you'll have more fun on it this summer.
As far as what you need, it depends on whether you go through the rocker boxes, no push rods needed but you'll need more new gaskets, or cut your stock rods and use quick install rods.
Either way you'll need the appropriate gaskets. Fuel Moto sells a complete gasket kit, as well as high quality pushrods. You can save a couple bucks buying the gaskets and o-rings piece meal if you don't go through the top. You'll need good tools including torque wrenches, both in lbs and ft lbs. I believe the 88" needs to have the cams pressed into the plate, the 96"/103" does not.
