Default New 2012 FLHRC

I'm a new rider who had a 2012 FLHRC delivered. After 30 minutes my throttle hand went numb and the hand and forearm were a little sore for 2 days. If I covered the front brake with two fingers the numbing would go away. Is this arm pump? Do I just need to get use to it or adjust the handlebars? I have gel gloves already. Thoughts?

If you have never rode before and don't swing a hammer all day then I would say this may be due to you being a new rider. You very easily could be gripping the throttle 2 hard causing the effect. After you have been riding for a bit if the problem persists or you start having pain/fatigue in your back/neck/shoulders then bars and seating position may need to be looked at. The Road King bars are notorious for causing this stuff.

Going from an ultra to 11 road king I had a similar issues with my hand going numb (Wires in my thumb , hunters thumb)..it took a little while for me to loosen up my death grip and for for the engine to break in..now its a thing of the past!

Need new bars. Stock bars on Harley touring bikes are recognized as torture devices by the UN and Amnesty International

If I wear my gloves with the gel pac I have issues with thumb getting very sore but ride with them off no problem. Got to find gloves with out gel but that hasn't been easy

If you are gripping the handlebars to hard that could wear you out.
I can just have my fingers just laying on the grips. No pressure at all holding on.

The stock bars on the RKC are terrible. I switched mine out for Heritage Softail bars and they are much more comfortable. Originally I thought the throttle was a little stiff but it either loosened up or I got used to it. I also didn't like the stock grips and went with Avon Aircushion grips when I switched the bars. Bike is much more user friendly now.

Take sometime and ride the bike before you make changes. More then likely, you'll end up changing the bars. As stated before, stock Road King bars SUCK!!! I went with the Heritage bars, but other people love the Wild1 bars. Here's a good link that should help you out.
