Default Battery Dimension??

I want to replace the battery in my '06 Ultra since it's 6 years old. I've been told the Deca ETX30LA with 400 cranking amps is the way to go. My concern is that the Deca is .75 inches taller than my stock HD battery that came with the bike.
Anyone have first hand experience with the Deca ETX30LA in my year group (88 CuIn)?

Never got an answer so I bought one based on the local parts store's recommendation.
The answer is: The battery dimensions are identical.

John,
The only difference between the HD battery and the Deka Etx30L is the battery terminals. The Deka branded battery's terminals set in from the edge of the case 1/8 inch. You will take note that Deka sends two brass washers with their battery to take up the difference so the cables mount flush like stock.Harley's contract with Deka prohibits them from producing the Deka branded battery with the same mounting posts.

You are correct. I was concerned because the specs indicated the Deca was 7.75" high which is .75" more than the HD stock battery. Fortunately the specs are wrong. The batteries are identical except for the setback of the terminals but Deca fixes that with the spacers.
Now if it'll just last the same 6+ years like the HD original did I'll be very happy.

Did you use a tender? I think that paramount in extending the longevity of any battery.
Mine is always on one unless I am riding or am somewhere I can't use it.
Bought a Battery Smart Tender this year, it is supposed to de-sulfate...

I have really become a battery tender fan in recent years, getting much better service from my batteries. I tender the battery when the bike may not be used for a week or more and of course during winter storage. I did just 1 replacement in the last 10 years.

Yes, I use the Battery Tender JR. I plug the bike in anytime I don't have definite plans on riding soon.
I only replaced the stock battery for my own peace of mind. I just had no confidence in a six year old battery.

Tender is the way to go and battery will last alot longer in battery life.
