OK I'm looking at a Road King Classic, black with a few extras on it. It's a 2000 with 6,000 miles on it, fuel injected. It's a private owner. My question is what is a realistic price to offer? More specifically, what do these bikes actually sell for? He's got about 15,000.00 in mind and I'm more like 10,000.00. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
A used HD is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, with that said there's no way I would give $15000 for a 2000 model, with a little extra get an 07 model or for around the same price an 05 or 06
HarleyPaw is right for a couple grande more you could have an '07. He's pretty high on his price. You might try looking on Ebay at what that bike actually draws in the auctions. Just a thought.

NADA avg retail for a 2000 RKC is $11,665.00 I would not pay anything extra for the extras.This is not a retail sale so the price would be a little lower. I think I would offer $10,500 and go from there.

In addition to NADA, eBay shows 8 completed listings for 2000 RKC's. The low was for about $9,000 for a 52K mile bike and the high was $13,000 for a SE conversion chromed-out bike with 19K. I personally think eBay prices are a little below market because most people there are looking for a big bargain ... but it does give you an idea what you can buy one for. 6K miles is low mileage, but $15,000 seems very high to me for that year.
The Kelly Blue Book pricing, and we all know they are high is as follows:
retail = $13,665
trade-in = $9,335
I think this guy's listing is high. Probably hoping to get an '07 himself. If you are willing to spend $15,000 you can have an '07 for about $18,000 plus whatever you dealer charges for prep. If i were to make an offer it would be somewhere between retail and trade-in KBB.Hope this helps some.
meeting him half way ($12,500) would be a fair price i would think. at 6000 miles, the drivetrain is still *new*....i would think thata low mileage bike would be preferred by most people, and at $12,500, youre still quite a bit away (money wise) from an 07.
This is great input, thanks! Just what I was looking for. I'll have to poke around at e-bay to pull up the completed listings.I started to look for a heritage and wound up looking at road kings. I think my wife's tail bone will do better on a road king.
