I have a question for those who use headsets for rider-to-passenger or bike-to-bike communication, music, etc.
I use earplugs religiously because too many years of no hearing protection has left me with tinnitus. So I'm wondering... does the headset itself provide wind noise protection? I'm wondering specifically about use with a half helmet.
I'm a tinnitus sufferer too. No fun for sure asking people to repeat what they just said or realize the wife/girlfriend just had a 20 minute conversation with you and you didn't even know they were taling to you. I use plugs when wearing half lid, I have a comm set in a 3/4 helmit and have no problem comunicating with my passenger. I tried to use the half lid ear sets but they did not provide enough ambient noise abatment for me.
What about the Sena SMH10 Helmet Clamp Kit SMH-A0303, I ordered it online and it is at home waiting for me, it works with the main unit from the SENA SMH10 and allows you to use ear buds when you use a half helmet, I'm looking forward to trying it when I get home, I will be able to set it up on my half and full helmet and just swap the main unit when I change helmets

^^^This is going to be your best setup. We sell quite a few of them this way. If you use the custom molded ear plug / speakers ($$$) or ones like these from StarCom1 which have the OSHA style plug around the speaker, you won't have a problem hearing. The frequency range / response is not quite as good with such a small speaker but the volume is fine and not having wind noise is great.
I bought a full face helmet back in 2000 when I went to Alaska.
I would hope that they newer headphones/helmet speakers are better than my old ones.
However, the CB was easier to understand with the FF than with a 3/4.
THe music (at least in mine) was like listening to a Transistor 6 radio (remember those?)
I need a new helmet since the FF is almost 12 years and I think my 3/4 is about the same.
I've heard the newer helmets are much lighter and cooler than the older ones so perhaps I'll do some reasearch before I buy this time.
