I bought a brand new 2012 FLHX on March 17. As of April 23 I have over 1800 miles on it already. No troubles. Runs awesome.

This is quite a humorous thread...I have an 07 very little issues (you should have heard the crap when the 07's came out lol) with more miles than some of you had in 3 bikes over the same amount of years...no disrespect and I really appreciate your supporting the economy and HD.

I got on the hdforums this past weekend to see whats up with the 2012's these days and I ran across a post talking about the Regulators going bad. And since I am buying a 2012 in a few weeks and I have a relationship w/ the dealership that allows me free-range to talk to the techs...boy did I feel like an *** when I say I heard the Regulator is going bad...His facial expression said it all and he proceeded to say "thats an 09 part number".

This Forum I could not say enough good about some/many of its members...but doggonit it sucked me in again...

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere on the Internet that 2010 models are the most reliable. And black is the fastest.

My dealer is having one of his best years in a long time with the 12's. He has not seen any problems and he is a volume dealer.

I got my 12 RGC last fall and put a couple thousand miles with out any problem. Same with the other 12 that I bought.

Hearing something and knowing something are two different things. One is hearsay and the other is based on factual information.

The dealer has had NO warranty work on 2012's regarding the regulator and he carries more Ultras than most dealers.

Now if you can report some accurate figures such as 10% of the 100,000 touring bikes of the 12 model year had bad regulators from HD warranty records then you may have good information. Until then you are passing BS along with a lot of hot air.

My son purchased a 12 Ultra there after returning from Sturgis and has not had a single issue either.

Now if you had said brake switch that would be different. My build date was just after the assembly line switched to the new switch. Luck me. But your 11 needs the new one if you haven't taken it in then. Darn crappy 11's.

John Glenn said it best:

"“As I hurtled through space, one thought kept crossing my mind – every part of this rocket was supplied by the lowest bidder."

At least if we have a failure we can just pull over to the side of the road
