Hubby went form a 1981 (?) WG to an '08 EG. He never realized how badly the WG handled compared to the EG until he went to ride the WG a couple of months later (he didn't trade in, sold it later). He was doubly happy he had gotten the EG after that - and that was before he lowered it and found a narrower seat so he could flat foot the EG.

Can you comment on the difference in the ride? Slow speed-Traffic-overall handling?
I am 5'9" and find myself always reaching with my tip toes to hold the bike up...will the RK be any easier?
Do yourself a favor and go test ride, or rent before shelling out the $$$$$$.
I had an 07 Low rider with forward controls and loved it, all stock except for the controls, bags, wind sheild and stage 1.
I rented a new 09 Ultra when they came out, and it was a SLED. Rode like a cadilac on the straight away, but was not agile and couldn't get out of its own way. There were changes that could have been made at a price to deal with this but I wasn't convinced enough to spend the $$$$$.
Then, last spring I found an 07 FLHT (EG Standard) at a local stealer, test rode it, and traded.
I was very impressed with the way it felt, quite aggile for a bike its size, and about 3K later I have it where I want it.
It,s quick for a big bike, and I become part of it when riding so handling is a breeze.
Again, do yourself a favor and go test ride before spending the money, for I suspect some of the peeps on here spend huge money, then BIG money trying to get it where they want it, and after all that $$$$$ spent have to justify it by claiming its the best thing since sliced bread.
There are probably many who get on a new one and it fits to a "T" out of the wrapper, but I suspect there are more who don't.
Test rides are free, and you will know when you find the one you want.
Good luck,
Ride safe

One of my long time riding buddies had the dealer install a Road King front tire and fender on his Wide glide. It gave him a completely different look and he said that the ride was improved immensely. To prove it, he rode the bike cross country several times. Nothing is impossible
