Default Going 103???

I picked up a 49 state ’09 FLHT with 26,000 miles and want some more passing power and better fuel mileage. It was stock except for a Dobeck tuner and a bunch of holes drilled in the air filter rear cover? I added a Ness big sucker and SE Fatshots. Which helped alittle powerwise, but not fuel mileage. I picked up a 103 stage 2 kit cheap , Andrews 54h, ARCs and SE compensator I plan to have installed. Anyone run this? My Question is the heads. They will be off and apart for the ARCs so at least a lap, seals and better springs for the cam. I really don’t want to spend a lot but if some port cleaning will really help I may spring for it? I’m just not sold for my mild build? Also I would like the compression around 9.8- 10 for the cam. What needs to be done for that with the stock heads and cast flat tops? Worth it? As far as a tuner I have no clue??? I’m really guessing on everything so looking for thoughts from folks in the know. Thanks

if you go 103 .. I don't think you gonna get a better fuel mileage than a 96" . 103 . passing power yes . .. but not much . 96" with mild cams. will spank a stock 103.

I recently had my '08 Wide Glide done.

Stock 96" heads, just cleaned up valve seats and added stronger valve springs. Stock 103" jugs and pistons, SE259E cams and TTS Mastertune. No compression releases.

Bike pulls strong, 100 hp, 105 tq.

I get about 43 mpg when I'm not hard into the throttle, which isn't often.

I would go with the Fuel Moto 107.

My properly tuned 103" (build in signature below) still gets in the low 40's without problems. My stage 1 96" (canned map) got mid 40's. The difference in HP/TQ gains was about 30%. The xtra ooomph well worth the trade-off....

No kidding. His 103" will be far from stock.

He already owns the 103" kit for cheap. Why would you back track to a 107 kit?

I'm sure it is a good setup but I got what I got for a lot less $. I really don't think it is that bad of stuff? I'm looking on how to have it put together properly without over spending.

That is about what I'm looking for, 90+ hp/100+tq/40+mpg. MPG in the low 30s now??? No porting? Starts fine without CR? Have a local guy pointing me towards TTS? 2 other shops towards PC? Just saw the PC vision????

Just did a 103 stage 2 with se 255 cams. No head work needed. Still breaking it in and have to wait for dyno. The power difference is amazing. Puts the mph at 80 at 3k rpm. In 6th gear. Hit the throttle and it sets you back in the seat. Love it. Will post numbers when tuned

the andrews 54h will give you a different prospective than the 255's. My 103 with 255's Ventilator and V&H true duals was 101 tq 98 HP. Mileage was mid to low 40's with my heavy hand on the throttle. 80 MPH/3000 was its sweet spot, nice fuel economy and good power if you needed it.

The SE comp was definately needed after the 255's were installed as when warm, it was a difficult start without the ACR's. I had 10 to 1 forged pistons installed, vs the i think 9.3 or 9.6 cast one's that come with the 103 kit.

My recommendation is go with the TTS, that way if you dislike the 54h's or decide to go a different route in the future, 107, 110, 113 then you are not re-buying the tuner. The power vision is an easy to use unit but the TTS is a better choice IMHO.
