Has anyone on here knocked (or pulled) the cat conv out of the right pipe before? It does not appear that I could get a rod through the pipe, there appears to be a metal disc with only a very small hole it in that anything would fit through. Does the catalyst material break up into pieces so it comes out of the pipe where the head pipes attach?

That cat material is so well bonded to the i.d. of the pipe wall I can't see how it could be knocked out.
It is possible in some cases depending on the model/year that you can core it out-- or most of it anyway.
I removed mine by cutting a window in the header pipe (as the cat came to Aussie in 09) and chiseling it out, then welding the window back in.
Plenty of info on how to do this is you do a search here.
It sounds like your seller had a "boat anchor" he needed to get rid of and you ended up with it. If it is possible to return it and start over, that would be best. Might be good to post who sold you that non-cat set up.
