I try to avoid those things that would not really matter in the long run from past experiences ive had. like getting married ooh wait this isabout mc. I intentionally wanted bike black, so no regrets if I got tired of paint job. Avoid addiction to mods. try to keep it strickly functional.

Going the other way. If you wanted performance and didn't care about how it looked you'd think you'd be riding rice.
Face it guys. It's a 800 pound cruiser, it's not ment to be a beast and certainly not fast. The frame, tranny, etc etc are not made for it either. And simply put, the accleration is nice, but you end up getting used to it.
Sayyou got 125HP/TQ out of it. After about 3-6 months the novelty would wear off and you'd be looking for the next "high".
Now if you just bling the paint, now thats something that never gets old. Your bike will stand out the sea of Harleys out there.
HP/TQ chasing is fun and pays dividends. But a cool looking bike IMHO goes much further.....

lp
Mine is certainly not fast, or a beast. It does, however, have enough grunt now to haul my big old a$$ around like a motorcycle should. Sure, I can get the front wheel up if I want to, but what I was really looking for was more enjoyable riding power. I am 100% satisfied with it now. After you reach 100/100....more power is EXPENSIVE!

I drag stuff going around the traffic circle. It can be made to go fairly fast in a straight line but it will never be a performance bike no matter how you mod it. Go with the BLING.

Man, I agree with LP. Personally, I didn't my Street Glide because of acceleration mumbers or 1/4 mile times, I bought it to enjoy a leisurely cruise with my wife. That said, at times the riding can get a bit "spirited" and when it comes to riding an elevated pace in the twisties, HP is not a big deal. I would take a good looking, reliable bagger over a bagger with a lot of engine mods. To each there own though. I do appreciate the time and effort that some guys put into their bikes when it comes to the engines. Wnogoods is a good example of a great running, reliable bike with a little extra oomph. He needs it though. The man is like 8 feet tall and weighs.......well he is a big dude

Since you have an '04, I assume you already have done a stage I with A/C, remap and pipes. If so, I would spend the money on paint. If not, I would spend a grand on the stage I and then the rest on makin' her purdy.

Paint or Performance? Neither.

Use the money and take a month or three and go ride the bike - coast to coast - Canada, Mexico.

Wake up each morning and RIDE. Truly enjoy the day, every second, every cloud in the sky,the rain, heat, cold, and wonderful folks you will meet on the road.

Life is way too short.

Some folks would be supprised to learn that you can ride these suckers............

Now that's being part of the solution. Good plan, Snobal.
