What is the proper O-Ring size for the oil, tranny and primary? I would like to buy a few and keep them around. It is hard for me to get to the dealership, local hdware store should have them. They are not anything special are they?
I thought O rings must be available in a few standard sizes and be widely available. But I learned years ago, trying to find the right size, that it was easier and cheaper in the long run to get the correct ones. Now it may indeed be that those you want are stocked more conveniently and I look forward to other replies! Fingers crossed.....
when my 07 was stock...it had no o-rings...used to turn the plugs in by hand then once they felt tight....turned them 1/16th of a turn more...never had leaks or seeps. Later I ordered some upgraded magnetic plugs...they came with o-rings...I installe the same way...soon as they feel tight by hand..1/16th of a turn more. Been reading the warnings about the sump plug....supposedly...too tight on that one will crack the hole....never seen it happen or heard of anyone who cracked their hole...but you never know.
Soft rubber buna n. Probably best to change ever time but I scope it good and if it looks good, I have used them many times more then once. However if I get a drip, I replace it next time. Would never use one twice when I work on others. $1.00 cheap insurance....

If your 07 didn't come with an oring on the drain, it's only because someone on the assembly line F'd up, it should have had one.

Great pic, that also shows a cross section view of the very narrow tapered land that the oring seals on in the pan, which is why a helicoil can not be used to repair a stripped drain plug, because that sealing land would be completely removed with the ovesized helicoil tap(sorry, little off topic)
