Rode to work today on my zx12r. Street Glide down with stripped shifter shafts and leaking front brake line.
Anyway on ride home passed a lot of bikes( about 1 hr ride). Thru my hand out,no acknowledgement from any Harleysville riders. The metrics waved, but not the ***** Harley riders.
They don't know me or what else I ride, kinda pissed me off. Sorry asses probably can't even service their own bikes.
Okay, I'm done.
I noticed that my fellow Harley riders wave more often at my RK than they did at my Deuce over the past 10 years. The RK, with the big-azz windshield, engine guard, front tire and light-bar is unmistakably a H-D machine. My Deuce had a front profile and color that I think some riders coming the other way though it was a ricer. They sure as hell knew better when I pass them though. My TC88b vocalized boldly through my V&H Big-Shot Staggerds!!
Stupid. I don't often wave first, but I always return a wave. I could not care less what a guy rides, as long as he has his knees in the breeze. A couple weeks ago I pulled off on the side of the road to switch to clear glasses as it was starting to get dark. I didn't take much notice of the half dozen or so bikes that passed on by until the guy on the ratty old dual-sport stopped to ask if I was okay. After I assured him I was I thought, "Hey, a half dozen Harley's just blew right by me without stopping to make sure I was alright. WTF?" These are probably the same kind of wanna-be's that rode right past me. I got no use for wanna-be "bikers". I'm a Rider.

I don't really worry about waving one way or the other. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. I find I wave when not in traffic but, as I say, I don't worry about it.
Even though I do a lot of my own "service" why do you have to insult people that don't?? Are they less a "biker" than anyone else??
I wouldn't worry about it....and making a connection between happy wavers and whether they work on their own bikes is a bit of a stretch, don't you think?
