Kinda glad they were not available when I re-painted my bike. I thought I already had all the ***** G available. JMO and please take no offense but when you have as much as I do that is just a bit over the top. Might think different if I saw it in person (and you were 6'8" (lol).
mine are coming off too... I got the SE Street Glide badges to go on... (never had any trouble getting CVO parts)
I think the gloss black barckground will look great on gloss black paint..
I did something similar a few years back, i put the black/chrome Night Train emblems with the little skulls in the background on a gloss black fat boy i customized...looked really sharp

Used fishing line to "saw" them off and then used Turtle Wax bug and tar remover to soak the sticky foam backing. I also used a small plastic scraper to slowly peel the backing from the tank. Takes a while to get off completely with a rag, but it works. Here's a link I used that helped with the process.
