My 27,000 mile “new to me” ’09 FLHT handles really good but rides like a rigid. I want to get it set up for a cross country trip next month. I have some only year old progressive 13” 440 shocks I’m gonna take off my old Roadking and put on it, but don’t know what to do with the front. The roadking has racetech springs + gold valves which work really good. I really should just swap fork tubes and call it good, but I have looking at the progressive monotubes. I also have new set of progressive frork springs laying around but wasn't real happy with them on a couple of other bikes. I really don’t know what else is out there? Anyone used both the race tech and montubes? Looking for suggestions on what works????
I also had the Progressive Monotube Fork Kit installed and it makes a huge difference in how the bike handles and it rides real smooth. I have a 2008 Ultra Classic with 50,000 miles and had Michelin Commander 2 tires put on at the same time. The bike is ready for this summer riding.
Interesting stuff but I don't have the time or skill to do the mods and I really only want to do the forks once.
I'd do the mod for you no charge, that only leaves the possibility of having to pull it apart one extra time to get the spacer length correct, then you never have to mess with it again.
