I am leaving in the morning for Panama City for Thunder Beach. I have a spare fob that I would like to take just in case. Will it kill the fob if I take the battery out of it and put it in the saddlebag and keep the battery on me. I did a quick search and didn't see this addressed and don't have time to do a long search since I am still at work and will be until just before I leave. Thanks in advance.

That works fine. I do it all the time on my trips.
Put the spare fob in something that will stay with you. If someone breaks into the bike all they have to do is install a battery & the whole bike is theirs......... Or learn the manual method to start the bike & leave the extra fob at home.

Where is this in the manual? I have both maint manual (actually that I didn't look into now that I think about it) and the one that came with my bike.
I looked around for it but couldn't find it.
So I assume the FOB's lost or dead and there's a special "procedure" to start bike without it. Don't need the procedure, just where to find it in the manual, assuming it's in there and wasn't a supplement from the dealer I lost.
Thanks for the help. Also like the idea of keeping battery in spare FOB upside down. Will do that too.

Excellent advice. Having that knowledge would eliminate 99.9% of the FOB/fail to start complaints/stories. It's in the owner's manual and if you get "stuck" by a dead FOB battery or FOB loss it is your own fault. (End of rant)
