Here is my stupid mistake and good save. I had never owned a bike and wanted one for a long time. I wanted a Harley but itwasn't in the budget. I kept telling myself it didn't have to be a Harley any bike would do. I went down to the Yamaha dealership and thought the Midnight Silverado was the next best thing. My wife said o.k. and we were ready to make the purchase. Before I made the purchase I was researching on all the mods I could do, to make it sound and look like a Harley which took about a week. During that week my boss called me into his office. My supervisor was leaving the company and they wanted me to be the supervisor. The position came with a $13K increase which was enough to pay for my new Road King........God is good. (This is a true story)
About 5 years ago way before HDforums. I was installing a new front wheel on my Softail. I was gettting ready to TQ down the two front nuts that hold the axle clamp. I did know what the TQ specs where so I called my Father-in-law and he looked it up in his service manual he told me the wrong specs. He said ft-lbs not in-lbs. I ended up snaping the stud. I should have know better, but I did give the father-in-law Sh** even though it was my falt for listing to him. He ended up giving me the manual to keep at my house.
