Just started up my bike after a few days of sitting...weather has been crappy here in Jersey.bike was running for only a few minutes and noticed the front head pipe starting to glow. Its only 60 degrees out and much cooler in my garage. I know its an air cooled motor but it shouldn't be that hot after only a couple of minutes right?
Bike had only 1000 miles on it...I have dbi fishtail slip ons and an Arlen Ness big sucker installed. What would make the pipe that hot only after a few short minutes if any?
Not even broke in yet cuz. Not sure if I've heard of anyone doing a ac and exhaust upgrade without a tuner. I would avoid riding it until you could get one on there. Not good for the bike to run that lean. I would imagine that issue would be magnified during the break in period.

many do.
But reinstalling the stock restrictive air cleaner would be a useful exercise.
If the header can still be seen the be glowing, the EFI mapping should be checked.
extended idling--- the correct period to idle the bike in the driveway is until you feel the rocker covers warm to the touch- ride easy the first miles as the motor parts are expanding to tolerance.
as the revs come up oil pressure and volume increases, which helps to remove heat from the hottest parts of the motor
