Being still wet behind the ears when it comes to Harleys, I have a question. What are adjustable pushrods and why would you intstall them? My bike is still new and I am not ready to mod the engine at all but just wondering.
they make it so you can change cams without pulling the rockers and they make it so you can use solid/limited travel lifters. No need for them on a stock bike whatsoever
Adjustable pushrods allow you to change cams without removing the cylinder rocker boxes. You can cut the old solid ones off, install the cam and put in the adjustables since they can be "shortened" to do the install.
Ok I understand that sort of. Why would you want to keep changing cams? I am just trying to wrap my mind around this. I have rebuilt some car and heavy equipment engines over the years so I know the basics of how an engine works. I, for one am more than pleased with the performance of my stock 103ci engine. I came from a Yamaha 1100 Classic and all I can say is OMG when it comes to performance.
Not necessarily changing cams often or repeatedly, just changing cams without disassembling any of the top end. Adjustable push rods allow you to install cam and replace push rods and adjust the valves through the push rod tubes.
Being satisfied with current performance is fine, give it some time, as you get used to the bike you might change your mind.
Some cams require adjustable pushrods due to the lift of the cam.
There is no one piece pushrods available in different lengths?
Seriously, I am a Harley rookie also, but I have extensive experience v8 pushrod engines.

yes there are custom sized pushrods but you need adjustables if going solids or limited travel lifters.

give yourself a little time and you will realize that your 103" does not have as much power as you would like LOL. It is a sickness that can not be cured only nursed along by adding more power.
