Default Is it really worth it?

Was looking around http://www.fuelmotousa.com a little tonight and I came across their page about head polishing and porting services. Noticed the dyno sheet they posted with their 107" kit (114 hp/126 ft lbs. http://www.fuelmotousa.com/images/107TW777Bheads.jpg) and was curious how it compared with thier unserviced sheets (106 hp/118 ft lbs http://fuelmotousa.com/107stockheadsfulltune.jpg).

When I realized there was an 8 unit difference in each of the two measurables I found myself wondering if these units were worth $100 a piece (level B service from Fuel Moto costs $800, not to mention the 107" kit is $1800). When you compare a stock bike to a bike with stage II 555 cams there is an almost 20-25 unit increase ($56 per unit).

I hope to have the funds some day to find out the answer to this question, but some of you out there should already know since Fuel Moto is 2 months behind on this particular service. Thanks for the input.

Good question, if you're very humbled, always ride the posted speed limit, never want to pass, ride solo, and just happy with having a bike, no, its not worth it at all. If you ride two up, sometimes need good acceleration, like a more efficient and cooler running machine, and generally like having a bike that can get out of its own way, just roll on throttle instead of downshifting when you want to go up a hill, pass, or go on a windy day, its worth every penny. I was at the same point, went with stage one, better than nothing, now I have a 107, heads, trued crank, etc, I did a lityle more, but I'm truly happy, there's probably more I could do, but right now I'm happy, I have a much more powerful and better running bike that actually burns less gas, and is a lot more fun. BTW, I don't have fuel moto, but that' s another story.

I think Fuel Moto offers an extremely good package for the money so alot of riders can have the power they always wanted without breaking the bank. If you are more performance minded, the more bling the more jing. Still a great value when you consider alot of people pay $300-400 for just an A/C.

It all depends on what you want.. Most people just do a stage 1 upgrade as the bike runs cooler and adds 10-15hp. If you go one step further and add cams you can add another 15-20hp for a modest price. If money is an issue stop right here!! Every HP from this point on will incrementally cost more and more and more..... Ask me how I know! Is it worth it? Only you can answer that.....

Yes, well said. There are people out there that are totally content with a completely stock bike. The newer (96" & up) big twins have enough "oomph" to get the job done and for 90% of the riders out there that's good enough.

Then there are the other 10%, the ones who start poring through parts catalogs and forum threads within 10 minutes of getting home with their new bike (or even before they have it) If you're one of these people then you know it and you understand it. If you're not one then you're left constantly scratching your head over those "crazy" people who sink all that money into a bike that was "perfectly fine" in the first place. This forum is mostly made up of the ten percenters, LOL!

Here's to you, crazy money-blowing forum-posting performance junky ten percenters :

I shall raise a glass to you and the rest of us 10%'ers out there.

My addiction lies with having more power then the next bike. Good thing there isn't a 120R floating around my zip code.

I just like to have the get up and go power of the 107. Decent cam, head work, good dyno tune and a set of true duals.
