I have a 97 FLHTCUI to which i'm going to fit a Sony DXS-S100 ipod head unit.
Being cheap i'm wondering if the biketronic module contains special electronic doodahs or is it just a wiring adaptor which I could replicate myself if i figure out which wire does what?

The module is sealed, the only way to figger out what's inside is to destroy it and take it apart Dont think anybody would really like to do that to theirs The biketronics module IS the cheapest way to go You won't be disappointed

 

There is more to the module than just an adapter. The module allows the automatic volume control (speed sensitive volume) and the handlebar switches to operate. They have a lifetime warranty on it and Biketronics is an awesome company to work with.

 

I am sure there is a way, but have fun with that mess. I too am a cheap ***, but I installed the Biketronics kit.
