I just picked up a 2012 Electra Glide Classic. So, far, really like the bike, however I'm going to be logging a lot of highway miles. Are the chrome fork wind deflectors a good idea ? Do they make a noticeable difference in the amount of buffeting ?
What about the adjustable wind deflectors that mount on the fairing ? Are these better than the fork mounted wind deflectors ? to get the best results, should I install both ?
Sorry for all the questions, but I don't want to go through the hassle and money if they don't really do anything. One last question, do either of these solutions cause any unwanted problems ?
They cured the helmet/head buffeting problem for me, and a great price.
Ditto, that's where I got mine (black) as well and they cured the buffeting issues on my ride too. I'm 5'-8", wear a fullface with sunglasses and no shield riding on stock seat with the fork deflectors and a Klockwerks Flare 6-1/2" shield and totally love the combo. The only air I get now is nice and smooth (unless it's super-windy, but nothing you can do about that but get in a car). Before adding the deflectors the buffeting was rattling my helmet, blurring my vision and giving me headaches after a moderate ride. No problems now.
I put the HD chrome ones on a couple of weeks ago, and they made a huge difference. Best $69 I have ever spent. My glasses don't flutter around anymore.
I installed the kuryakns this spring and really enjoy the ride more has a little louver to open also, seems like the bike cuts thru the windy days better with them on
