5'10" and ordered an 8.5" Klock Werks sheild for mine. Based on the replies in this thread, I got the right one. I was on the fence between the 6.5 and 8.5.
I'm 5"10 and have the 8.5" Klock Werks and it is great. I was out on the highway yesterday and raised myself up in the seat to see where the wind was, I figure it was about 3 inches above the brim of my helmet, high enough to keep the bugs off my forehead.
I'm 5'10" w/average torso length and I recently installed the KW 6.5" on my StreetGlide on KW's recommendation. I'm NOT happy with the end results.
I had a 8" WindVest that worked fine w/o a helmet but beats the crap outta me when I do ride with the brain bucket so I was looking for a shield that wouldn't buffet when wearing a helmet. I got the 6.5 flare put on, strapped on my Nolan, ran up to triple digits and all seemed good. The 6.5 w/helmet on worked fine.
Pulled the helmet off and the wind is VERY pronounced and VERY annoying. Can't hardly keep the glasses on my face. (I also find the KW is more susceptible to cross winds)
Since I ride w/o a helmet 95% on the time, I'm pretty disappointed with my KW 6.5. Guess I'll put my WV back on until I go riding in a helmet state.

I had similar issues on my SG with stock shield, 10" LRS shield and 6.5" Flare. It's not the fault of the windshield though. The buffeting problem is due to excessive air coming up under the batwing fairing and mixing with air over the windshield in the negative pressure zone behind the windshield. It creates a nasty zone of turbulence that can blur vision, rattle faceshields or sunglasses and cause headaches. People have used various combinations of fork deflectors, batwing deflectors and triple tree deflector to mitigate the problem. For me the fork deflectors did the trick.
I never knew how much air was coming around the tank until I tried deflectors and felt the difference. Sometimes it's just finding the right amount combination of deflectors and windshield that works for you. Everyone is different and it takes some trial and error to find what works for you sometimes.
I am looking to buy a new Klock Werks windshield for my 2011 Street Glide. I am 5'10" tall and would like to get some feed back on what size to buy. If you are 5'10" and are have either the 6.5 or the 8.5 Klock Werks windshield please let me know what you think.
Be Safe!
Im 5' 11 and have a 8.5. I like it. 6.5 little too short.
I'm 5'9" and the 8.5 caused helmet buffeting, turbulence hitting the top of my helmet also I had new seat that lowered me an inch or so, had to change to the KW 6.5, it
Werked great
6'1" running (killer) C&C seat that's more than 1" lower. Have 6.5 & 8.5 KW, 8 Clearview Recurve and other. Dark smoke 6.5 KW looks great but too low (and for sale), light smoke 8.5 KW perfect but I really do not like look. Clearview probably works as well. My size; need 8.
Also have adjustible deflecters. Sorta ugly but very effective. Huge help in heat.
