5' 8" here with a sundowner and 8.5" klockwerks. Love it, but i'm long in the torso for my height. I'd be interested in what seat people are using with what length shield since seats will affect the riding position.
I'm 5'10" w/average torso length and I recently installed the KW 6.5" on my StreetGlide on KW's recommendation. I'm NOT happy with the end results.
I had a 8" WindVest that worked fine w/o a helmet but beats the crap outta me when I do ride with the brain bucket so I was looking for a shield that wouldn't buffet when wearing a helmet. I got the 6.5 flare put on, strapped on my Nolan, ran up to triple digits and all seemed good. The 6.5 w/helmet on worked fine.
Pulled the helmet off and the wind is VERY pronounced and VERY annoying. Can't hardly keep the glasses on my face. (I also find the KW is more susceptible to cross winds)
Since I ride w/o a helmet 95% on the time, I'm pretty disappointed with my KW 6.5. Guess I'll put my WV back on until I go riding in a helmet state.

Good point. I ride with a Sundowner as well. I put the stock seat on today and coming down and back that inch or so really made a nice difference. I'd still like a bit more but it did make a difference. Since I had the Sundowner only for an ex gf, I think I'll keep the stocker on.
I'm 6'-5", but have a custom Corbin seat that moves me 2" back (a big deal for windshields) and 1" down (less important). My 6.5 let's the ei d hit me just above my eyebrows which is perfect.
My local dealer let me demo both the 6.5 & 8.5 before purchasing. That's the best advice you can get.
Im 5'10" and have the stock seat on my FLHX. I always ride with a half helmet and the buffeting with the stock wind screen was so bad that it would pull my riding glasses off my face, I had to strap them on. I just got my 8.5" Klock Werks in today. I couldnt wait to put it on and try it out. In the same half helmet with simple sunglasses, not my foam lined riding glasses, I went for a ride. It is SUPER windy here today so I felt this would be a good test. Shot down the Sawgrass Expressway and took it to 100mph, perfect. Still had plenty of wind but the buffeting was all but gone. Now I NEVER ride that fast but really wanted to test it. Rode for about 25 miles and I am totally impressed. What a difference. With the stock screen at 80MPH, it felt like my head was going to shake off my torso. At 100MPH with the Klock Werks, virtually no head shake and my sunglasses didnt budge.
I run a 6.5 flare and way happier than the stock shield. I would like to try an 8.5 flare but but not to fond of the look of the 8.5. You should also buy the HD fork baffle that helps with buffeting as well.
I am riding a 07 SG with a 6.5 KW. It is perfect for me and I am around 6'2". The difference is I am running a corbin seat which I think drops your position by a few inches.
I am 6' and use the 11.5" and love the smooth air. Anything lower would hit me in the helmet based on my stock seat and ride height. I demo rode before making my choice.
