No one could come up with a resolution or a reason why at that time, so I put the OEM black gauges back on and the light cycled off.

I recently posted an update, based on a conversation between me, my local dealer and H-D customer support. I was told that brand-new, the same gauges fit an ABS equipped model and a non-ABS model, but that once the ignition is turned on, the speedometer and tachometer both 'learn' that the ABS model has a sensor. When you then take those gauges off and install them on a non-ABS model, the ABS light will cycle on and then stay on because it's looking for the ABS sensor that was there but is no longer there. I was told that there is no way to 'unlearn' or 'reflash' the gauges back to a new, non-ABS state.

I've come across a seller that says that per his dealer, all the gauges are the same (yes, that's correct) and that the gauges are capable of going from an ABS model to a non-ABS model with no ABS 'light-on' issues.

Since it's a popular change-out, can anyone here with a 2009 2010, 2011 or 2012 Touring model tell me if they changed out the OEM black gauges to the silver-faced gauges, going from an ABS equipped model to a non-ABS model, and did they have any ABS light issues?

I'd really like to get a set of gauges and not be locked into finding a set only from a non-ABS bike.

Thank you
If you still have the silver faced gauges I could swap the face plates for you and mod your gauges at the same time. Keep the original mileage from your speedo.

Yes the new gauges come for both bikes. When you hook them up it communicates through the serial data wire and then enables the ABS light in the tach if the bike has it.

I do not know of a way to reset it. I had a customer that did not have the miles to empty and his clock when he received his gauges back on his FLHP. There was some way to reset this and he found it in the user manual that came with the bike. I do not know if this would work for the ABS light thow.

When you remove the faceplate is the bulb exposed? Can you remove/break/disable it before the new face plate is installed?
