Specs: 2002 FLHTCUI TC88, Ness Big Sucker, PCIII, Samson Oval Rolled Thunder pipes.
I was running with slip ons only until last weekend. That's when I added the ac and PCIII.
The impressions I got were that completing the "stage 1", my bike would be so different that I would absolutely love it. Well I didn't notice much of a difference at all. Mostly just more noise and less decel popping.
I do most of my riding 2-up and need power down low. Needless to say, i was dissapointed. What do y'all recommend keeping a very low budget in mind? I'll be doing all my own labor.
Thanks in advance guys and gals for any advice as I'm sure this has been beaten to death.
I agree on getting a different map for the Power Commander. You should have felt a seat of your pants up kick in the torque for sure. Also, engine heat should be less from the richer mixture the PC will provide.
Well, I just saw you responded before I could get this post up. Maybe your expectation were too high. All I know is that when I added the PC to my bike I felt the difference immediately.
The closest map options I had were 807-022 samson rolled oval slip ons, stage 1 ecm, SE AC, or 807-021 samson rolled oval slip ons, STOCK ecm, SE AC.
I chose the map for stock ecm as I have not had any kind of dealer download. Keith at FM said that should do the trick. Were my expectations too high?
I would suggest trying a different map also. I don't if there is a sub forum here that people post thier custom maps but you can actually play around with custom maps others have recieved with similar MODs if they send them to you.
Man,I felt ike I was on a whole different bike after the stg 1 mod. The map that was preinstalled on the PC V I installed wasn't quite rite for my RK. Took it to HD shop and for $180 dyno and remap, I am highly happy with the tourque and overall performance.
Have it remapped and you'll be amazed at the difference.
Until you do the CAMs you won't notice a big difference.
I haven't changed my cams yet but I still saw a major improvement in mine after PC V, SE high flow breather and Rush slipons.

Still a LOT more mods to do!
