I had the same problem on my 08 RKC. I'm not very mechanical so I took it to the dealer. They attempted to fix with silicon as some others have mentioned. Took it home, still leaked. Ended up replacing stator, that fixed it. Set me back several hundred bucks, but no more leak!
Check where the wire comes out of the stator and is zip tied to the frame...I have found some of them to be pulled very tight which deforms the grommet...It is also possible if yours is leaking while parked the primary could be overfilled due to a leaking crankshaft seal on the left side filling your primary with engine oil.
I had the same leak. I didn't bother with the warranty because I hate anyone touching my bike. I repaired the leak with a little black RTV (silicone). There's a detailed description of my repair in the following link. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-oil-leak.html
thanks, have a 2010 leaking, Its at dealer time meow. we will see what happens side i have two months left on warranty. Talked to one of the techs he said they may or may not replace Sator under warranty due to seepage may not be enough warrant cost..

If they repaired it with silicone and it still leaked, that is a perfect example of the lack of "attention to detail" that you will get when having someone else work on your bike. A properly executed repair with silicone should fix the leak and last forever. If it leaks after the silicone repair my guess is that they didn't clean the area thoroughly before attempting the repair. The initial cleaning is very important, probably the most important step of the process. Your leak is not because the silicone repair method isn't sound, it's because of a lack of attention to detail by the guy doing the repair.

I noticed the the zip-tied wires as a potential cause also. You'll see that mentioned in my repair described in the link of post #4.
how long did it take to go from a seep to a leak? I will most likely take it in before warranty is up in August just wondering what I have to look forward too. Being it is under warranty I will go the fix it route instead of the silicon route. So far the bike has not been back to the dealer since buying it. thanks Jeff
I'd like to hear others experience in this too....I have an 09 Ultra, with 36k. I've recenly developed a leak in that area too....I get one drop on the floor after a ride.
I have an ESP and was planing on getting it fixed under that plan, but not till later this summer - sometime around early July I will need both front and rear tires, and was gonna have it done at that time...but in the meantime i have a trip scheduled to Arkansas....was wondering if I should just go ahead and silicon it prior to the trip, and have it replaced after the trip...or if this is a bigger deal than I think and should be fixed relatively soon.....

The leak will gradually worsen. It's not going to happen overnight and even at its worst, it will never be catastrophic. As for doing a temporary repair with silicone, I wouldn't if you're planning to take it in for the stator replacement as the silicone will only make the job more difficult. If you are going to do a silicone repair, do it right or don't do it at all, and then forget about taking it in for a stator replacement. That would be my advice.
